Sunset Hotel ICON City View

From the moment we walked in, we knew it was going to be a beautiful hotel.

Hotel ICON Lobby

The entryway has an epic glass spiral staircase, but perhaps our favorite part about the lobby is the indoor wall garden that spans across three stories.

Garden Wall

The indoor garden is used to help keep the interior of the lobby cool during the hottest hours of the day, as well as increase the oxygen levels of the inside of the hotel.

Hong Kong Hotel ICON View

We were greeted at check-in and escorted to the 28th floor for our room and information about the Above & Beyond club & lounge. During check-in, we were offered coffees – I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was absolutely delicious, and I found myself raving about it for the rest of the afternoon. [And waking up in the morning the next day, that coffee was the first thing on my mind!]

After learning about the hotel’s amnesties and the details of the Above & Beyond club, such as complimentary breakfast, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres, we were escorted to our room, the Club 36 Harbour View, on the 26th floor. We knew that Hotel ICON had great views, but what we were met with left us breathless.

Sunrise City Hotel ICON

Golden afternoon sunlight streamed in through the wide window overlooking the city. From its place on the shores of Kowloon, you would be hard-pressed to find a better vantage point of sunset behind the skyline.

Hong Kong Sunset

The weather was perfect when we arrived, and of course we wanted to explore the city, but the height and location from our room in Hotel ICON provided such an exclusive skyline view that it was truly the ideal place for watching the sun set behind the city.

Here are some details and our favorite parts about our stay with Hotel ICON.

Above & Beyond Sunset Skyline

Amenities

  • Smart phone with unlimited wifi, international calls, and all the applications you might need, complete with a portable powerbank. This was beyond useful, and meant we didn’t have to spend the data on our phone’s SIM card to figure out directions. Instead, we were free to wander around the city in any direction, with no worries about finding our way right back to the hotel.

  • Free minibar stocked with all kinds of delicious beverages restocked daily.

  • Espresso machine in-room.

  • Complimentary laundry service.

  • Printer & office supplies for getting down to work.

Hotel Club

Access to the premier Above & Beyond club and lounge is one of the most incredible parts of Hotel ICON. The interior is high-class and decorated with modern art pieces. Access to the club provides complimentary coffee, tea, and soft drinks, as well as access to breakfast buffets, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails with hors d’oeuvres!

Hong Kong City Nights

Location

Located directly on the Kowloon peninsula, right across the harbor looking toward Hong Kong Island. You can take a brief walk to the Garden of the Stars, and down the promenade along Victoria Harbor. This walk will take you right along the water’s edge and will give you amazing views of Hong Kong island. We recommend taking this journey during the late evening after the sun has gone down, as the lights from the skyscrapers on Hong Kong island light up the bay with remarkable colors.

Above & Beyond Lounge

Ambiance

Paintings and other works from local artists are displayed throughout the hotel, adding to the unique, modern vibes of the hotel. There are wide glass windows on every floor, at the ends of the hallways, so you can see views of the city of Hong Kong in any direction.

Hotel ICON Bedroom

The Room

  • King sized bed

  • Full desk for doing business work equipped with printer

  • Comfortable leather reclining chair + modern seating chair

  • Flat screen TV + second TV in the bathtub that doubles as a mirror

  • Toothbrushes, lotion, toiletries including hairbrushes and razors (which normally we wouldn’t need, except our luggage was lost for a day at the airport, so it was really nice to have everything we needed until our luggage arrived!)

Hotel ICON Bathroom

The Bathroom

The bathroom is sleek and contemporary, incorporating glass and stone into the unique design. You can draw a warm bath and the water will fill the tub with a waterfall effect that is quite unique. If you don’t opt to draw a bath, there is a modern glass shower with a similar waterfall showerhead effect from multiple sources, creating a spa atmosphere in your own room.

Hotel ICON Pool

The Pool

The pool is located outdoors on the 9th floor and is absolutely gorgeous! You can swim in the heated waters while looking out over the Kowloon side of Hong Kong, while seeing views of Hong Kong island in the distance. The pool deck is lined with lounge chairs so after you swim you can relax and order a coffee or a drink from the bar.

Breakfast & Food Choices

Breakfast at Hotel ICON was one of our favorite parts about our stay. You can choose to enjoy your meal at the 28th floor with the expansive views over Hong Kong, by eating at the Above & Beyond Club. If you desire more selection, go to the Marketplace, which is located on the 2nd floor. The Marketplace offers a wide variety of food in a buffet style, with options ranging from a fresh omelette and bacon to a more traditional Chinese breakfast of Dim Sum. Try the Siu Mai and the steamed pork buns – they were absolutely delicious!

Raspberry Cake

If you decide to obtain Club access you can enjoy the unique spreads of hors d’oeurves throughout the day. In the early afternoon, enjoy the spread of unique cakes and have a hot cup of delicious tea. In the evening, try some of their savory spread options – our favorites were the chili pepper stuffed with tuna & the shrimp salad.

Above & Beyond Sunset View

Above & Beyond Club

The Above & Beyond Bar and Club is a sight to be seen, especially for the view! Located on the 28th floor, the club is high above most other buildings in Kowloon and provides breathtaking vistas of Hong Kong. Enjoy a glass of champagne while you watch the city light up the night, or a handmade cocktail as the light show in the Victoria Harbour sparkles & glows.
